This project was exhibited as part of “The Magic Kingdom” group exhibition at the museum. The installation is a takeoff on the rock group Buddy Holly & the Crickets, a spiritual-gendered wordplay derived from Buddy Holly's name. The Crickets, Holly's Band, turn into Jiminy Cricket (Pinocchio's consciousness), who appeared in 1940 in the Disney movie, with his collection of moralizing preachings. Pinocchio, on the other hand, appears as a transgender boy who happily accepts that he will not become a real boy. This installation functioned as the main performance stage for The Magic Kingdom (the name of the group exhibition). Combining Disney songs alongside original music, the performance dealt with topics such as addiction to fantasy, the illusion of gender, mind-body-acceptance, preaching/self-judgment vs. the will to be a better a better, more moral human being.
